Hi everyone and Happy Friday! Hope you have all been having a FANTASTIC week! It’s been a busy but good one here!
I mentioned in my last YouTube video, that we have started eating clean in our household. This started with me, and trickles to everyone living here because I am the mom. 🙂
So, anyway- one of our favorite things is peanut butter, but so many companies add sugar or salt or a million other things. Even the “Natural” brands aren’t always good either. I am really wanting to be aware of what is going into my body and the bodies of my family.
So, I picked up some unsalted peanuts today at the grocery store and decided we would make our own peanut butter, together.
Here’s me and Grayson “Gru” leaving the grocery store. (side note: his middle name is not Gru– this is something Jaxen started calling him when he was a baby…and it stuck)
Making the peanut butter is SIMPLE- I have done it before with the older kids, but they didn’t remember at all. So, if you have kids remember to do fun projects when they’re old enough to remember or be prepared to do them at least twice, once being when they are 9 or so! 🙂
I wanted to keep this as bare bones as I could- so we just used the peanuts, nothing else. No oil, no water, no sugar, nothing.
We used the Ninja, and it took quite some time for it to really turn those peanuts into a nice creamy texture.
Don’t lose faith though, eventually it will turn into a nice peanut butter texture.
Both the older kids loved helping & tasting! We took out the ‘regular’ peanut butter from the pantry and we compared ingredients, how they both smelled & looked and tasted. It was a fun project for them to see that there is more in their food than they think. Do they prefer the unsalted peanut butter, eh….probably not in the long run. But, I’ll take it while I can get it!
I will definitely be having some of this tomorrow!
Have a great weekend!
