Hi everyone and Happy Monday! Today my little girl starts her 1st day of 2nd grade- and she is very excited to be seeing all of her old friends and to be making new ones. She’s been practicing her multiplication facts all summer, so she is hoping that this year they will learn multiplication. 🙂
Today we will get to meet my little guy’s Kindergarten teacher and tomorrow will be his 1st day! I am a little bit nervous that things will go smoothly- because he loves time with his mom. But, we have been trying to talk a lot about how exciting school will be, and how he will meet lots of friends and have lots of fun. So, cross your fingers with me, that everything goes smoothly. I think all moms worry about that first day of school- and hoping it goes swimmingly.
I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast- and you can find the recipe here– and I also made them each a card. Alexis wanted to take her lunch to school today, so there will also be a little encouraging note in her lunch box. 🙂
Here is the card I made for Alexis:
I used the Jenni Bowlin Classic Red and Black stack and I used the School is Cool stamp set as well as the School Days stamp set from Pink by Design.
I used the same stamp sets on this little card for Jaxen, tomorrow. I used the apple from School is Cool and paper pieced it to make a colorful apple on top. I didn’t think he’d like the ribbon as much as Alexis would!
With both of these stamp sets, it was easy to personalize the cards for each of their grades!
UPDATE: She is off, and all went well so far- Here are a few pictures from our morning 🙂
This morning she came down to a banner hanging in the dining room- she loved it! I used DCWV Grade School Stack to make the banner along with my Cameo
I made this little ‘paper bag’ of fish, to congratulate her on her first day of officially being a 2nd grader. I used the Sweet Grams 2 set along with the School Days stamp set. The paper bag I cut out my Cameo using a file by Lori Whitlock.
I added this simple, quick notecard to her lunchbox. I used Spellbinders to make the shaped card- and just used a sticker to decorate the corner.
Here’s the inside of the card 🙂 Yep- looks like there will be a Sweet Grams 3 😉
Here is a pic I took with the banner and the sign I made for her- I sent the banner to school with her, so her teacher could use it in their classroom. That way it still gets used! Alexis was a little sad to see it be given away, but she is happy to be able to see it in her classroom every day.
I used the Cameo to cut out these trendy ‘closed’ letters- and I used Amy Chomas’ marker holder for my Cameo to write the “What I want to be when I grow up…” at the bottom with a Sharpie. I used a Lettering Delights thin font.
That’s it- now to do it all again for my little guy tomorrow! 🙂
If your kids are starting school this week- Happy 1st week of school to them and to you!! Have a great Monday everyone!!

Hi Sarah! I’ve missed you!!! I’m finally back from my daughter’s wedding! It’s been super fun to go back through all of your blog posts from the past 2 and a half weeks – You have been busy!!!! You did a great job with the flashback Friday posts and I love your graphic! It was sweet of you to give me kudos – but this is all you and your amazing work! I’m so excited to find your older ideas right here! I can’t wait to see them all! Good luck with your kiddos heading to school! Those first few quiet days were torture for me and then I really grew to enjoy them and then to enjoy when the kiddos were home even more – so hang in there!!
These are fabulous! My 6 year old let me know today that I am no longer to sign his cards “Love, Mommy”…. only “Love, Mom”…. *sigh*, he’s getting so big too fast!
Awesome everything!
