Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss’ birthday- and as a ‘retired’ reading teacher- I am happy to celebrate his birthday and honor his legacy. I volunteered to bring in eggs on Friday for Green Eggs and Ham– and I even made treats! However, I was taken a little off guard at the sudden announcement that my little guy needed a Seuss outfit in 2 days! (We are pulling it all together, and will show you a pic tomorrow!)
Anyways-I wanted to show you the treats I made today, just in case you wanted to make them for your school celebrations also!
I found these adorable SVG files on The Lady Wolf’s Free SVG site– you should check her out! She has lots of free files- and lots of copyrighted ones even–so of course you can only use them for personal use.
I opened these files in my Silhouette software and then put the layers together on the screen. I had to change a couple of the colors, but otherwise they looked just like the characters. Then I print the characters out on my printer.
Here’s what my mat looked like with the registration marks and the images put together:
I had to add a couple cut lines, using the offset feature-around the fish so that it didn’t cut out each eyebrow! 🙂
Then I sent it to my silhouette and it cut out all the little cats and fish!
I stapled them to colorful, skittle filled ‘sticks’ and VOILA! a perfect treat for Dr. Suess’ birthday!
(here’s where I get the clear candy bags)
Aren’t they cute? I think the Preschoolers are going to LOVE them!!
Have a great Thursday Everyone!!
So cute, great job! The kids will love them.
Love your treat bags Sarah. They are absolutely adorable and always come up with the cutest creative ideas. How blessed your children are to have such a talented mommy 🙂 🙂
Happy birthday being wished for you Dr. Suess’ tomorrow. I hope it’s super fun and zoolicious the entire day. Here’s a few more of your fun quotes that I could not pass up sharing.
“If you’d never been born, then you might be an isn’t.
An isn’t has no fun at all.
No he disn’t”.
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
“You’re off to great places.
Today is your day.
Your mountain is waiting.
So get on your way.”
I love them!! Great job Sarah!

I have spent the whole morning searching for Dr. Suess svg files to make things for my grandson’s first birthday party. I was SO excited ti find this post. These would be fabulous favors for the kids. However, I was really disappointed to find that the files are no longer available. If you would be willing to share the files you could send them to my gmail address above. I would be so grateful. I am getting desperate! Thanks for any help.
