Our Little Monster is 5…and he wanted a Monster theme birthday party!! ๐
So here’s a peek at his party!
I loved seeing him get so excited over the homemade goodies and decorations. ย At one point, I thought– what am I doing? ย He isn’t going to care if we have monster mouths or party hats—and then a few minutes later he discovered the monster mouths I made along with the party hat–and he had to try them on immediately. ย He then came running towards me with a hug telling me I was the best mom ever!
Definitely WORTH IT!
First and foremost, Jaxen wanted a Birthday Banner- He’s seen me make them for Thanksgiving and Christmas so he wanted his own Monster Banner. ย He even knew where he wanted to hang it– so I apologize for the bad lighting. ๐
I used a simple banner shape, in 3 sizes to layer- using American Craft Cardstock and DCWV Celebrations Stack. ย I made simple scalloped circles and popped them up, and then added the layered letters- also using DCWV Celebrations stack.
My favorite way to connect a banner is to punch holes in the corners and tie each piece to the next piece.
I added a Monster shape at the beginning, middle and end of the banner. ย I used the monsters from the Lettering Delights Monsters Cut it Shapes
I also made a small banner with my left over pieces ๐
I also made the special boy his own birthday hat- using his favorite colors!
And I thought it would be cute to decorate the straws too!
I just chose shapes and added holes for the straw- then I decorated them with monsters, or the word yum cut out into the shape. ๐ The shapes were cut out about 2 – 2.5 inches.
For a cute treat we made m&m sticks, by using 1×8 inch bags from Clearbags.com and topped them with one of our monsters. ย The birthday boy helped with the googly eyes on the monsters! ย He loves googly eyes!
ย I also made Lollipop Holders using this SVG. ย
The SVG makes 2 sizes of Lollipop holders- 1 is the perfect size for Tootsie Pops and the wider one is perfect for Cake Pops! ย They come in both the scalloped and the starburst shape! It’s a must have file, because you could adapt it for all kinds of things…baby showers, Valentine’s Day, Birthdays, weddings, etc. Plus they are easy to put together because the score lines are already there for you!
Aren’t they cute??! ย His friends loved them! You should make some for V-Day ๐
The cupcakes were a big hit- here’s Jaxen picking out which one will be his, after his nap. ๐
Mr. Pink and I decorated them with big marshmallows cut into thirds- small marshmallows, and pull and peel twizzlers. (Plus, we had adult-friendly cupcake w/o marshmallows and candy!)
Oh- I found the little guy’s monster shirt at Target for 9.99 ๐
The Monster Mouths were a HUGE hit for adults and kids!
Maybe I laughed a little more than most adults, but I got a kick out them!
These were created using this SVG and were quite simple to put together-
I cut them at about 4-5 inches wide. ย I used American Crafts Cardstock and DCWV glitter stack.
Here are some of our faces!
Hope you liked our little monster party!!!
Oh, and as promised the winners of the Spellbinders post from last Tuesday are Lisa Frederick and Kimbely Wells who both wrote on the Spellbinders Facebook page.
