Chex the Elf

So, this year we started Elf on the Shelf in our home-

“Year after year, children and adults alike are baffled by the mystery of how Santa really knows who’s been naughty or nice. After much urging by the elves and Mrs. Claus, Santa has allowed his biggest secret to be revealed in The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition . Touted as “The best thing since The Night Before Christmas”

My kids were so excited when the elf came, and then they got to name him: My 4 year old son, chose the name Chex…and I have to say it’s grown on me!

Mr. Pink and I are having fun putting Chex in new places every night– and the kids are just as excited to find where Chex is every morning.  As the days go on- we will try to think of fun, new ideas for Chex to be found.  The kids know that they are not allowed to touch Chex during the day, because his ‘magic’ will leave–and they are very careful not to touch him no matter what.

I thought it would be fun, for all of you other Elf on the Shelf parents out there to see a collection of where Chex has been or what he’s been doing! So, I will add pictures to this post almost every day!

Here is Chex crafting in the scrap room!

Having a bowl of cereal!

Exercising! He borrowed Barbie’s bicycle!

Snowball fight!! Yep that’s me and Mr. Pink that he’s hiding behind 🙂

Check zip lining down the front hall 🙂

Chex brought the kids an early Christmas present to enjoy in December! 🙂

Did an Elf come to stay at your house?  What’s their name?

Stay Tuned!

  • We do have the stuffed animal version of the elf on the shelf, but we haven’t named him yet. I plan on leaving a note by him on day with his name and such on it. I wait until after my sons birthday (Dec. 7th) to bring out the elf. Just to keep the kids excited after the birthday and all, then the elf, then Christmas.

  • This is just adorable. I can’t wait to start the tradition with my daughter(s). I was going to purchase the elf and the set this year but my daughter is only 18 months so I figured waiting another year will be best. She’ll probably understand it a little more! Plus, I have another little one on the way and even though she’ll only be 10 months next Christmas, it’d still be cute to see what Elf gets into of hers ;). Have you seen the ideas floating around Pinterest? OMG. Adorable! I love the flour angel. Can’t wait to see where Chex ends up next!

P.S. Did you buy the elf + book set? I hear he is not really “playable.”

  • We started the “elf on the shelf” tradition this year too! We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old, after I read them the book that came with our little elf friend, my oldest said we should name him Albert. (not really sure where that name came from) It. Is so fun every morning watching Isabelle look for “Albert” and it warms my heart listening to her talk to him.

  • We started it this year too. “Husker” came to our house via the porch on Saturday morning. We then watched the show on TV. My kids are always talking to him as they walk by.
