This week is Drug-Free week at the schools around here- and a lot of other places from what I understand.
This week my daughter gets to dress up in fun themes- and today they are flashing back to the 80’s -which I was told by my 6 year old, is the “old days.” Wow–how fast one ages, after having a child in school! As a child of the 80’s I feel like they weren’t THAT long ago–but, for her being born in 2005–the 80’s doesn’t even seem imaginable!
I helped her pick out an outfit for today’s theme- a bright band tshirt, even if it was Hannah Montana–I would have LOVED to get my hands on a New Kids on the Block tshirt in her size…and mine for that matter 😉
I cut a few slits in it, and paired it with a tank top – and then she wore leggings and a neon colored tutu type skirt that I made last night. I also put rollers in her hair last night, so we could tease her hair a bit this morning and put it in a side-ponytail. Luckily she had some hi-tops that I picked up at Tuesday Morning a few weeks ago for $2 and she has leg warmers because I just can’t stop buying them!
The only thing I wish we had for today, is a hair crimper—remember those?! That would have been so fun, and such a great lesson to her on how the “old people” from the “old days” used to do their hair 🙂
To take this day even further- I decided to make an 80’s style card for her to give her teacher–because I am sure my daughter won’t even know what the image is on this card!
I made this card with the Cricut Indie Art cartridge, DCWV All abut Girls solid paper mat stack, My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist Let’s Fly a Kite for all of the patterned paper–and that cute little cassette tape is on an Action Wobble!! Also…. the stamps are a SNEAK PEEK for the next Pink by Design Release.
Oooh, if you’re releasing an 80s stamp set I am SO in! I love your comment about NKOTB – my sister and I were going through old boxes at my mom’s place last summer and we found an entire box FULL of NKOTB stuff – T-shirts included. I even wore mine around for awhile to bug my husband. HA! 🙂 Love that card – my kids have no idea what a cassette is either. Too funny. 🙂

Can’t wait to see a pic of your daughter. I loved the 80’s. An 80’s stamp set is a great idea.
Love it!!!
great card! I love the cassette image!
This is SUCH a cute card! I absolutely love this!
TOTALLY AWESOME !!!!!
Totally love the leg warmers!!!! Great costume for your daughter and you rocked the card!!
Awesome, 80’s stamp! about time! I am from the 80’s (teenager then), love love love, best times. Wonderful card and great look, they will have a blast.
P.S. YES, 80’s Ustream! That will rock…he he he.
Absolutely an 80’S theme ustream/release party!! I’m going to go look for my leggins and my big alligator clip thing for my hair right now! Are there 80 stamps total – if you add all of the sets together ( you know count the images or sentiments individually ) then you could release 80 images/stamps in an 80’s party!??
No matter the theme or not – can’t wait for the release!

this card is too cute! brings back lots of memories!
Love love love the 80’s! I was not old enough to really appreciate them, so I carried the trend right through to the early 90’s! Your daughter looks, like totally rad! I think DS would look at a cassette tape & scratch his head in confusion. Not gonna lie, I didn’t give up my NKOTB t-shirt or my crimping iron until well into the 90’s 😉 Great post!
80’s stamps are a cool idea…..now I need to find some neon ink =)
That would be awesome! Just had my cough30thcough reunion. 80s stuff would fit in perfect for those pages and for anything we may do in the future!
I’ve just got one thing to say……..GROOVEY!
I had another thought – you could do the ustream for 80 minutes to go with an 80’s theme!!
getting excited for ustream time!
