Okay-now for today’s project–
I saw these cute lil spooky spools in a magazine and they were selling the kit to make them for $19.99–(Whoa?! Right?) So, I grabbed a few things from my stash- and made my own 😉
I used a few vintage spools (but new ones would work too!) some colored hemp or twine–and some card stock 🙂
For the mummy I used white cording I had literally laying on my scrap desk-and a cute sticker the I picked up at my local scrapbooking store the other day. It was a sticker sheet of fun monster eyes by Jolee’s. I stuck the eyeballs on the spool first, and then started wrapping him like a mummy. Easy, peasy right?
For the jack-o-lantern- I wrapped him with orange twine that I also picked up from my LSS a couple weeks ago–and then hand cut his little face. I used a small piece of kraft card stock rolled up and inserted into the center hole of the spool to give the pumpkin a stem. Then I took green twine that I’ve had for AGES and tied a quick little bow on top, to resemble tendrils.
For the skull, again I used that white cording (I am still not sure where this came from) and then punched out 2 little circles and hand cut the bow, the nose and the mouth. To glue these teeny, tiny pieces I used a Glue Pen.
For the monster- I used orange and blue twine, wrapped every other bit–and then added one eyeball from my sticker sheet– then I tied 2 bows with yellow twine and stuck the tendrils of the bow into the center of the spool creating a funky hairdo for the one-eyed monster.
After taking their pictures all by themselves–I thought they needed some company- so I whipped up this cute little candy-corn treat box. It is an SVG that I cut with my eCraft and stamped with one of the newest Pink by Design stamps— Ghostly Greetings.
Don’t forget to hop on over to the Pink by Design Blog to see what I made over there! 🙂
There’s even a VIDEO!!
