Today I am posting as a part of the Christmas in July week put on by Cross my Heart Papercrafts!
I chose to do an advent calendar, because every year I try to create a different Advent Calendar for my 2 kiddos. Remember those old spools I bought at the antique store–well I thought this would be the perfect use for them!!
The hardest thing about this project, was taking the pictures without having an actual tree to put the ornament advent calendar on! I think the kids might think I was a little crazy, pulling out the big tree in the middle of July-
I took strips of Christmas paper from my stash – some DCWV, some Echo Park and covered the inside of the spools using Scor-tape.
Then I stamped the numbers, using the Banner Stamp- and adhered those onto the spools as well 🙂
I used the Pink by Design Banner Stamp Set 🙂
Then- I threaded wraphia through the hole in the spool and tied it at the bottom.
I thought this would be a fun way to do the advent calendar this year, with the kids getting a little older… They love a good “mystery” 🙂
That’s it!! Simple- and even the kids could help! If you don’t have spools laying around– you can pick some up at a flea market or an antique store for pretty cheap–I got all of these plus a bunch more for under $10
I hope you enjoyed my little twist on the Advent Calendar- and I hope that you have a Happy Christmas in July as well as in December!
