Okay, I spent most of the day, yesterday, reorganizing my craft area-trying to make room for the YUDU.
I knew if I put it away– I would not use it as much as if it were sitting out, staring at me 🙂
I was also working on some other fun projects, I can’t tell you about quite yet….(I know, I am horrible at keeping secrets )
With Alexis home from school this week, she was itching to get into the scrapbooking room and PLAY– so after we organized her drawer–and I gave her a new binder for her stamps and stickers–she got to help me with a couple of calendars.
Alexis, had actually made me a Calendar at school- as a Christmas present to me. This is a BIG deal, because it is my VERY first school gift from my baby! Here’s a quick picture of the calendar she made for me-she was so happy and excited to have me unwrap it!
Each month is copied, and the part that flips up, is hand drawn and colored with an appropriate seasonal image. 🙂 I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this calendar!! It reads: ” This is a special calendar, made for you from me, I hope it helps you plan your days, while you think of me.”
But today, we used some simple pre-printed calendar pages, and added a few embellishments, instead of drawing pictures 😀
For the one below, I used the YourStory to bind it, and then used my ATG to adhere a ribbon closure. Since, it will be used all year, I wanted to be sure the sentiment to be something that would fit all year long.
If you want to see the YOURSTORY in action, be sure to check out my video on it HERE
The rest of the months are similar, but embellished according to the month!
This was a fun, quick project–that is sure to be a nice little gift for almost anyone in your life! Plus–the best part? Make it from the kids–then they can embellish to their hearts desire, and when aunts/uncles and grandparents flip thru the year, they will think of them!
Awww….How sweet was your daughter’s calendar?!?! Are school gifts the best? Loved the calendar you made…I’ve never thought of putting one together like a book before! Very neat idea!! And as always adorable!!! 🙂
I meant aren’t school gifts the best! Geesh! In my defense its really late! Or really early depending on how you look at it! 😉
I will be making several more calendars for friends. Thanks for inspiring
I loved the calendar idea. I’m having a blast with my YOURSTORY! I’m currently doing a project for my sister, where I’m combining memories with sayings and short poems as well as pictures. I got mine for Christmas and already used it to do a short scrapbook of 1 of our famly trips. It’s so awesome to make my own book and with my cuttlebug on it’s way I cant wait to cuttle bug the cover of my next project!
alexis’ calender was so sweet. nice to have a crafty teacher. i wasn’t planning on making a calender, but maybe now i will. i have the old yourstory & i have my cinch. so i can definitely figure something out.
What a Sweet Baby Girl you have!!! I remember when my girls were little and the gifts they gave me, homemade picture frames, macaroni angel ornaments, etc. they grow up so fast, cherish those moments!

I like making these for people. I did them as Christmas gifts last year with my kid’s pictures for the grandparents.
I plan to make one but I don’t know what style should I make. This one looks pretty easy and I have the your story photo so this looks like the most appropriate for me. TFS!! Take Care!!

Just curious, but who won PK Kathy’s Surprise Birthday Blog Hop from a couple weeks ago?
I’ve checked your site, but can’t seem to find it. Thanks.
How cute! I made three calendars for my 2 grandmas and 1 grandpa. It had pictures of my son throughout the year and everyone LOVED them! I’m going to have to make more since everyone that’s seen them is asking for them. haha
I have a calendar that I received from my swap buddy from the Cricut message board, Jenny. She sent me a beautiful calendar and all I had to do was to add the photos!!! Lucky me! I printed the pictures at Walmart last night and now the calendar is all finished and ready for January 1!
Great calendars. Aren’t gifts from school projects great? I love them too. Probablay won’t get any calendars made this year, might make some 2012 calendars as Christmas gifts in 2011. My grandchildren are 9 and 11 so they are starting to use calendars to manage all of their activities so calendars for Christmas sounds like a great idea to me.

I haven’t even opened mine yet. I hope I have a chance to play with it soon. Thanks for sharing.

How cute!!!! My Dad makes calendars for the family every year. He adds pictures of me, my hubby and our kids as well as all of my siblings (I’m the only one married and with little ones). It’s been a tradition for the last 5 or 6 years and I look forward to them every year! Thanks for the great idea, I may need to make one for my In-Laws. 🙂
Well, now that I’ve seen your daughter’s calendar, I think I will try to make one for my sisters. I have the Designer Calendar cartridge from Cricut and that will save me a lot of time! You will keep this calendar forever because it came from the one you love the most… your beautiful daughter. Best wishes for the New Year to you both! Wishing you health and happiness all year through!
What a wonderful present!!!! Love it! Happy New Year Girl!
That was such a sweet Christmas gift. I am sure you will cherish it forever and always. I love calenders and making them (so much that the first Cart I ever bought was Designer Calenders Lol). So, I will defiantly be making a couple.

I just love the calendar idea for a present how sweet. I have to agree if I put something “away” I wouldn’t use it as much either.
Ugh, I’m so upset. I ordered a photo calendar that I made for my boyfriend’s mother for secret santa off snapfish on Dec 18th thinking I would have it by Christmas. Now it’s been a week and a half and I still don’t have it!! So frustrating 🙁
Hi Sarah,
I will be creating at least 4 calendars this year. I bought 2 Basic Grey kits, 1 My Mind’s Eye kit and 1 kit designed by my boss at Capture, Inc. here in Fort Collins. :0) Can’t wait to get started. Love your sweet calenders!
This is another cute idea I’m logging down. My Yourstory binder is in route from HSN and I cannot wait. I’m all over the place getting as many ideas as I can so I can make mother’s day gifts!
Aww Alexis’ calendar is gorgeous. Love your idea for calendar pages. I have just started a calendar and will be posting the first page on my blog tomorrow.
