Lots of requests for Recipes from today’s treats– I just can’t stop myself–I keep making more and more goodies….
So, you are ALL going to have to come over and help me eat them!! 🙂
Sound good?
Okay– first recipe is Potato Candy- which can be dyed to be any color– I did Pink!
1/2 cup mashed potatoes (about 1 potato, peeled and boiled)
powered sugar
peanut butter
Combine 1/2 cup mashed potatoes and power sugar till is firm enough to roll (about the entire bag of Powdered sugar). The mixture will become very wet (take this time to add the food coloring); just keep adding powdered sugar. Roll out on powdered sugar like noodles. Cover with peanut butter. Roll into jelly roll cut into small pieces. Very rich!
My husband, didn’t think the pink was very appetizing–but the kids loved it! 🙂
Butterscotch Taffy
- 1/2 cup butter
- 48 large marshmallows
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (12 ounces) butterscotch chips
In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, marshmallows, water and salt; cook and stir over low heat until smooth. Add chips; stir until melted. Pour into a buttered 8-in. square dish; cool. Cut into 1-in. squares. Wrap individually in waxed paper; twist ends.
Thin Mints
Ritz Crackers
Peppermint Extract
Chocolate Candy Melts
Melt the chocolate candy melts in a double boiler, add a few drops of peppermint to taste, Dip Ritz crackers in chocolate and lay on wax paper to harden. Â (this recipe came from my friend Kristi, at Little Paper Sprinkles)
I thought my mother in law was the only person in the world that made potato candy 🙂

I’ve never used one or wanted one in my life until I started seeing all the yummy goodies you make and realizing I can have a lot of them even with my super restricted diet. Thanks for all you do!
