I’m officially a Soccer Mom

Tomorrow is my daughter’s very first Soccer game–

She has had 2 practices, and quite frankly has been more interested in chasing butterflies and playing with her pigtails than getting in there to kick the ball. Β But, I am okay with that– it just makes me smile!

But since tomorrow is her first game and I want to show her as much support and love as possible– I decided to do some crafting!

Yep– I made a shirt to let everyone know that I was the mom of the butterfly-chasing, daydreaming, cloud-watching, pig-tail playing girl 10 feet away from the ball! πŸ™‚ Because to me–it’s what makes her, her–and I love her for every bit of it!

So, I decided to decorate a shirt, (in the same color as her team) with Β the Iron-On Vinyl I won from the Creating Keepsakes Convention!

This was the first time I used it–and it was so simple and so fun!! I can’t wait to make more shirts!

  • Just a tip I learned…if you “kiss cut” the vinyl, the front “clear” part will be all in one piece, and is much easier to remove from your shirt once it is ironed on!

Yes, you can put it in the washing machine, just turn it inside out and dry as normal!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • My son picked flowers the 1st year and sat in my lap! I thought oh man he is never gonna play next year! Well he did year after year and he just finished his 7th season! (not so much fun now the field is huge and I can barely see him out there!) I <3 soccer!

I have made shirts but I do the fabric and heat bond! I love making them! Actually shirts are my favorite thing to make!

  • I love this idea!!! Have fun at the game. I wonder where we can buy this iron on vinyl? I have to have it! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • That is so sweet (I wish more soccer parents had your attitude)!!! πŸ™‚
Congratulations on winning the vinyl! It’s so nice to see people using their prizes. I need to follow your lead in being more adventurous…play around with different mediums.

    Thanks for sharing,

  • That is so cute! My husband now wants me to make some for us to wear but since we have 5 kids in soccer I think I’ll just make one and have all my kids name on them. I wouldn’t have time to change away cause their games are always one right after the other. πŸ™‚ Your daughter is going to love this! Tfs and have a great day!!!

  • Welcome to the Mom’s soccer club. Enjoy the ride it’s lots of fun. My son was the dandelion picking kid out on the field, and my neighbors girl was the one doing Irish Dancing steps. We had a lot of laughs over that. They both now play High School soccer and are quite good. So let her play and have fun.

Can’t wait to see your new soccer related creations.

  • very nice. i hope that your daughter enjoys playing soccer. i usually make stencils with my cricut & use fabric glitter…my daughter & i like the sparkly look.

  • Welcome to the Soccer Mom Club!! Many fun years ahead of you! My 14 year old has been playing for 10 years and my 4 year old starts on Tuesday:) I love your shirt… and I’m SURE it put a smile on your daughter’s face!

  • (I think my last post got ate!)

@ Jennifer H: I use Heat N’ Bond… just google it… I get mine at walmart because it is cheaper than Joann’s. I also use the red package it seems to cut on my cricut better!

here is my pathetic blog addy: you can take a look at the shirts I have done!

  • Your such a cool mom. My son has been playing sports since he could walk and never made a mom shirt, I feel so bad…LOL He’s going to be 12 soon so I don’t think he’d want me to wear one now but this is a good gift idea for my friends who still have little ones. Thanks for the tips and idea πŸ™‚
