Peanut, Peanut Butter…

Posted by on Sep 4, 2014 in Savory, Treats, Tutorials, Uncategorized | 1 comment

Hi everyone and Happy Friday! Hope you have all been having a FANTASTIC week!   It’s been a busy but good one here! I mentioned in my last YouTube video, that we have started eating clean in our household.  This started with me, and trickles to everyone living here because I am the mom. So, anyway- one of our favorite things is peanut butter, but so many companies add sugar or salt or a million other things.  Even the “Natural” brands aren’t always good either.  I am really wanting to be aware of what is going into my body and the bodies of my family. So, I picked up some unsalted peanuts today at the grocery store and decided we would make our own peanut butter, together. Here’s me and Grayson “Gru” leaving the grocery store. (side note: his...

Hi everyone and Happy Monday!  Hope you are having a lovely Fall! I wanted to share something that was a HUGE hit at our house this past weekend.  I even made enough to share with some friends, and they loved it too! I made this Crunch Peanut Butter Mix from Betty Crocker last Fall, but for some reason I am the only one who remembers it.  (Maybe, I didn’t share?)  Anyway, this time around I had my daughter help me- and everyone helped munch on it! It is truly addictive! I did change the recipe a little from good ol’ Betty, but not much. 8 cups Golden Grahams cereal – (the whole small box)  4 cups Cocoa Puffs cereal- (half the box)  4 cups thin pretzel sticks  2 cups Reese’s Pieces (the whole bag)  2 cups dry-roasted peanuts  24 oz white almond bark, chopped  1 cup...

Raspberry Filled Cupcakes

Posted by on Jan 7, 2013 in Sweet, Treats, Uncategorized | 6 comments

Hi everyone!  For the last couple of days I’ve been wanting raspberry filled cupcakes.  Which is weird, because I don’t typically like cupcakes.  But, because I have kids I have cupcake liners thankfully! The kids went back to school today, and I thought it was the perfect day to whip up some cupcakes.  I cheated a little- because I used a boxed cake mix, but– I fancied it up a bit, so it tastes as good as homemade. And let me tell you, you will be able to tell the difference in the batter it makes it so much better! What you do is take a boxed cake mix, whatever flavor…I used white.   Then instead of adding the ingredients on the back of the box, add the following:  1 cup of water, 1 stick of melted butter and...

Baking Fun

Posted by on Jun 19, 2012 in Savory, Sweet, Treats, Uncategorized | 10 comments

Don’t ask me why I get the baking bug- when it’s 90 degrees outside, but I did today– and I went for it.  We were out of sandwich bread, and I didn’t feel like running to the grocery store- so I thought I would just make my own bread.  Since, I am always trying new things- I decided to try 3 new recipes. I have been wanting to make pita bread for awhile now, and this seemed like the perfect time!  I love pita bread with lunch meat, with hummus, or stuffed with beef…or peanut butter and bananas! I think it’s fair to say, that pita bread goes with everything. (Jaxen helping with the mixing/kneading) I found this recipe on AllRecipes and thought it sounded simple enough- Recipe adapted from AllRecipes Pita Bread 1 1/8 cups warm water 2...

Hi everyone!  Today I have a fun, easy, yummy and mostly healthy recipe for you I wanted a quick, healthy-ish snack for the kids to be able to grab on the go.  I found this recipe for no-bake energy bites on Pinterest, which was posted originally by Smashed Peas & Carrots.  Now, this mom is probably a lot more healthy than me- but, I try Here are the ingredients you will need: 1 cup oatmeal 1/2 cup peanut butter (or other nut butter) 1/3 cup honey 1 cup wheat germ (her recipe called for coconut- but, we aren’t a coconut-friendly home) 1/2 cup ground flaxseed 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (I’d use dark chocolate chips next time because they are better for you) 1 tsp vanilla (homemade is the best) Mix all of the ingredients together – I used...

Hi everyone- I can’t wait to share some YUMMY goodness with you today! I know I usually don’t post on Saturdays, but I have so many things to share with you lately! That’s a good thing ,right? Okay, so   I made these S’mores cookies with the kids the other day, and they LOVED them.  They loved making them, seeing them bake and definitely eating them! I found the recipe on Pinterest- where it was originally posted from Jennifer at the Picky Palate.  I also realized that I pin a LOT of S’mores recipes!  I’ve pinned S’mores cups, cookies, bars, and more— you think I might like s’mores or something 😉 Now, I’ve tried all kinds of s’mores combinations the old-fashioned campfire way.   I’ve made them with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I’ve tried them with Dark Chocolate, I’ve...
