Peanut, Peanut Butter…

Hi everyone and Happy Friday! Hope you have all been having a FANTASTIC week!   It’s been a busy but good one here! I mentioned in my last YouTube video, that we have started eating clean in our household.  This started with me, and trickles to everyone living here because I am the mom. So, anyway- one of our favorite things is peanut butter, but so many companies add sugar or salt or a million other things.  Even the “Natural” brands aren’t always good either.  I am really wanting to be aware of what is going into my body and the bodies of my family. So, I picked up some unsalted peanuts today at the grocery store and decided we would make our own peanut butter, together. Here’s me and Grayson “Gru” leaving the grocery store. (side note: his middle name is not Gru– this is something Jaxen started calling him when he was a baby…and it stuck) Making the peanut butter is SIMPLE- I have done it before with the older kids, but they didn’t remember at all.  So, if you have kids remember to do fun projects when they’re old enough to remember or be prepared to do them at least twice, once being when they are 9 or so! I wanted to keep this as bare bones as I could- so we just used the peanuts, nothing else.  No oil, no water, no sugar, nothing. We used the Ninja, and it took quite some time for it to really turn those peanuts into a nice creamy texture. Don’t lose faith though, eventually it will turn into a nice peanut butter texture. Both the older kids loved helping & tasting! We took out the ‘regular’ peanut butter from the pantry and we compared ingredients, how they both smelled & looked and tasted.  It was a fun project for them to see that there is more in their food than they think.  Do they prefer the unsalted peanut butter, eh….probably not in the long run.  But, I’ll take it while I can get it! I will definitely be having some of this tomorrow! Have a great...

Mini Cards

Hi everyone and Happy Thursday!  I’ve missed a few days here– I took a little girls trip to Vegas & then we have been battling a yucky cold around here.  I am still a little hoarse, but on the mend! It seems like everyone is getting a cold right about now, so something must be going around for sure! We had a lot of fun in Vegas, but I was glad to get home!   Here is a picture of my friend, Sarah and I before going to see Jersey Boys. (Remember me talking about Sarah–she had a baby the same week I did and we crafted this pretty mobile for her little girl) Anyway, Jersey Boys was amazing!  Definitely see it if you have the opportunity.  We had dinner at Mon Ami Gabi which was so delicious, a restaurant smack in the middle of the strip who knows how to do french food right! We also did a little shopping- they have so many amazing shoe stores there! Okay, enough about Vegas–onto today’s project!     Have a great day...

Neon Stamped Card

Hi everyone and Happy Monday! Today is my little girl’s first day of 4th grade.  Jaxen won’t start school until Thursday, so I have a few more days home with him….and Grayson, well he won’t start school for a long while.  He says, he just wants to stay home and snuggle me forever and I am okay with that! Anyway, like every year- I make my kids a card for their first day of school, and here is the one for Alexis. Whether she saves these cards or not, is hard to know.  But, I know this blog will still be floating around in cyberspace.  So…. Alexis, I am so proud of the young lady you are becoming.  You are beautiful on the inside and out.  Your kindness and willingness to help others would make any mother proud.  I am so honored to have been blessed with such an amazing daughter.  As you face this year of 4th grade, remember that I love you more than I could ever say.  Some days may be challenging and you may find yourself sad at something someone has said or done.  But, remember that at the end of the day I will be here, waiting for you;  to listen, to give you a hug and most of all to be in your corner.   Make good choices.  Stand up for what you think is right. Be sweet to the new girl, be respectful to your teachers and to your peers, smile at others and if  a boy asks you to go around the building to talk- say no. I love you– and I know you are going to ROCK the 4th grade because after all, YOU are WICKED COOL…and brilliant…and wonderful. –...

My First time on a Roller Coaster

My First time on a Roller Coaster

I took my sweet girl to get a pedicure tonight, I wanted to do something special with her before school started back up again.  She is 9 and starts the 4th grade on Monday, and with 4th grade come a lot of questions.  Question like, “When can I start shaving my legs?”, “When can I have a boyfriend?”, “When can I start wearing makeup?”, “When can I highlight my hair?”…. all exciting questions for her as she looks forward to growing up just a little bit more. But, for me…well, it triggers something that’s not quite excitement.  My chest begins to tighten, my heart rate begins to quicken, I can feel sweat beading up my forehead as my breathing becomes shallow.  I am feeling sheer and utter panic.  How could this have happened?  I feel much like she probably did this summer when I took her on her very first BIG roller coaster.  I remember sitting next to her, and asking her if she was ready much like she’s asking me now with all of her questions.  All I hear is, “Are you ready, mom?” And again, I sound much like she did on that roller coaster.  “No, no I am not ready!” “Is it too late to get off of this thing?” “I think I can wait until next year.” “I think I’m going to be sick!”,  “Please put me back on the ground…” you know, right wear I am safe in the land of single digits. Yep, I sound just like her, because this is my first time on this roller coaster.  She probably even said a quick prayer in her head as we reached the top of that first hill of that roller coaster, much like I am right now. “Dear God,  (click, click, click) Please help me get through this.  (clickety, clack) I am so scared, and I need you right now. (click….click) Surround me with your angels–because I think I am for sure going to need a few. (cliiiiccck) Ok, ok. I promise to read my Bible every single day if you just let us both live through this……” So, here I sit at the top of this roller coaster hill, holding on for dear life, wishing like crazy I could just get off of this thing, climb back down and snuggle in bed all day with my sweet little girl.  But, just like that ruthless roller coaster,  I can’t.  There is no turning back. Ready or not. This is her right before she got on the roller coaster. 😉    ...

Been Missing You!

Been Missing You!

Hi everyone and Happy Wednesday!! I haven’t said that in a long while!! It has been one heck of a last year– full of so much fun and wonderful memories! What have we been up to? We’ve been chasing our 3 kiddos– watching Grayson learn how to sit & crawl & walk.  We’ve been to Hawaii twice, went to South Dakota to visit an Indian Reservation and see the gorgeous Badlands.  We attended the WIT National Rally as a family, and made a trip to Ohio for a grandmother’s funeral.  We have been here, there and everywhere!   I can’t say things are settling down, but Grayson is in an easier spot to let me craft more, especially with Mr. Pink helping!  I have been missing this part of my life, and hearing from you guys– so I am glad to be back! I’ve had the sweetest messages & emails from you guys– and I want to say Thank You! You truly know how to make a girl feel special!!   Here are the 3 kids at the Badlands. And on the 4th of July   I’ve learned quick- that with 3 kids, it’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get them all giving me good smiles, but that’s ok! We are still baby wearing– the time I will get to do this is slipping away from me, but I am enjoying it while I can! I’ve got lots in store for you– but, first we are going to start off with videos and posts…and a giveaway or two.  There’s one going on right now on the Pink Cricut fan page!   PS. I did NOT give up my craft shopping– I still made a little time for that along the way!        ...
